Seating and Cooking Excavation

This project originated from an invitation to co-curate a space at the SZYGYZY Art Festival together with Jeen Brouwer. Upon which we decided to invite Studio Co-Formations, composed of Theo Collin and Héloïse Floc'h, to collectively develop a work in the outside area neighbouring the festival grounds.

The collaboration resulted in a temporary installation that combined outdoor furniture and a cooking area, created collectively with Studio Co-Formations.

They describe the project as follows:

'' The task was to build places people to for sit, watch, cook and eat.

Rather than building traditional tables and chairs, together we came up with the idea of using an excavator to dig seating into the landscape to create furniture that was sunken in the slope. For this, we used the ground level for the seating and table and dug out space for the legs.

The benches' scenography was designed to allow people to watch the live music from the building side from an elevated position and at the same time be close to the food located on top of the mound. ''
